[edit] Before Morning Service

  • Oversee the set up of all video equipment.
  • Get the tables set up with the Tvs and switchers in the right spot.
  • Make sure all of the correct cables are run, These cables may differ depending on the series, but most are usually the same.
  • Make sure the cameras are hooked up, and that you are outputting to the two projectors, the capture device, and the Tv downstairs. Also if we are doing anything with the plasma screens make sure that cable is run as well.
  • Make sure you test everything. Test all videos (for audio and video quality) and slides or pictures for the message. Have the countdown ready to go and be ready for the 9:30am prayer.

[edit] Before Evening Service

  • Everything should still be ran. All you need to do is turn everything back on and re-check. Make sure the videos and slides are still good, and make sure the screens still look good. Paul will probably just change those anyway.
  • Have the countdown ready and attend the 9:45 prayer.

[edit] After Evening Service

  • Oversee teardown of all video components. The cleanliness of our breakdown is of utmost importance. There are a lot of little things to put back, so take great care.
  • All cords should be wrapped neatly and carefully and put in their proper place.
  • The flat screen Tv should be wrapped in the table cloth.

[edit] Switcher Principles

The most important thing to remember is you are to add to the worship experience, not distract from it. That being said, we absolutely encourage creativity, especially during the music. First and foremost, be aware of the service order. Always know what’s coming next, and be prepared for it. Once the service begins, make sure to communicate with your cameras. Let them know when you are on them and when you are not. We also encourage you to call as many shots as possible. The style of the directing will differ depending on what’s happening, but there are a couple things we always do.

  • Keep an eye on the headroom. Normally, we try and keep the eyes at about the two thirds line. Also, when transitioning, try and make sure that you are not moving from one shot to another very similar shot. Listen for instrument solos and feature those.
  • We do encourage creativity during the message as well, just remember to keep it discreet.
