[edit] Before Morning Service

  • Get sound board out of closet and set on the tech table
  • Run the snake down the center of the room and plug in all channels. Be sure to hook the snake onto something so that the weight of the snake is not pulling down on the actual channel connectors
  • Turn the sound board on and then turn on the amps backstage
  • Check laptop audio feed with all videos for the service
  • Test the system by playing the iPod and get ready to check with the band
  • Run sound check with the band getting levels and EQ for the mains and making sure that the band is satisfied with their monitor mix
  • Check speaker microphone
  • Check the video sound with the video capturing tech
  • Have everything ready to go at 9:30am and be present for prayer time

[edit] Before Evening Service

  • Check iPod channel
  • Check laptop feed by running all videos
  • Line check with the band
  • Line check with Paul
  • Be ready for 6:45pm prayer time

[edit] After Evening Service

  • Leave sound up and playing music for at least 5 min after the service
  • Unplug all cables and pack up the board
  • Wind up snake carefully and place neatly on the stage beside the speakers. It should be neatly wound and the connectors should be placed in the middle of the wound up snake for protection

[edit] Sound Principles

  • The mix should sound as close to CD quality as possible only louder
  • Mix for a rock concert. Lead vocal just above everything else. Guitars up, good, even bass, all drums in the mix and EQ’d well. Let them feel it!
  • Everything must be present in the mix
  • Be alert on the board: If there is a guitar solo, turn up the lead guitar. If there is speaking by the worship leader, turn off the reverb. If there is a video getting ready to play, un-mute the channel. If there is a speaker coming out, make sure the mic is on, etc.
  • During the week go to relevantchurch.com and listen to the music set so that you are familiar with the songs. You can also download the MP3’s if you like.
