[edit] Before Morning Service
- Get the cameras and the tripods from the stage closet.
- Set up the two cameras and the third on stage camera.
- Make sure that all cords are neatly run and taped down. As soon as the band begins practice and the lights are running, work to correct the color. The people on screen should look fleshy, not too yellow or too white.
- If there is time, you will want to discuss the style of the shots with the director. Set up a steady shot and be ready for the 9:30am prayer.
[edit] Before Evening Service
- Arrive and turn the cameras on. Make sure the colors are still good.
- Make sure the cords are still neatly taped down. Then begin to practice with the director.
- Find a good establishing shot and be ready for the 6:45 prayer.
[edit] After Evening Service
- Breakdown the cameras and tripods. Make sure they are placed on the shelves in the closet.
- Make sure that s-video cables are neatly wrapped and placed in their proper bins.
[edit] Camera Principles
Once again communication and creativity are key. If you have an idea for a shot, let the switcher know. Otherwise, listen to their direction or freelance if they ask you to. Movement is a good thing, but don’t go too quick or do too much of it. When shooting a person, try and keep their eyes at the two thirds line. Especially during the message. As always, make sure to add to the worship and not distract. Make sure during the music, that we “find the light” during dark portions of the song.
